Young Illustrators Studio (YIS) is a growning hub of online art classes for ages 3-18 taught by passionate, professional artists! Nurturing artists from beginner to advanced in multiple disciplines by providing fun, social, student-driven, project-based curriculum that builds confidence, intuition and makes kids want to practice! Many of our students stay for years and forge life-long friendships!

Job Title: Contractor, Online Art and Writing Teachers, for Ages 3–18

Young Illustrators Studio provides engaging, inclusive, general and niche-focused art classes that empower young artists from all over the world to explore their creativity, build life-long growth mindset and a love for learning! Our dynamic, open-minded culture values respect, innovation and collaboration in both students and instructors.

YIS currently operates solely using the Outschool.com platform. Currently, to teach on the Outschool platform you must reside full-time in any of the 50 United States, Mexico, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and they United Kingdom (note that U.S. territories do not apply at this time).

Position Overview:

We are seeking professional illustrators, artists and authors to teach dynamic, exciting, engaging online classes to children and teens ages 3–18. Teachers work with Bear to determine the best age ranges suited for each class they teach. Instructors may have the opportunity to teach a class already developed by YIS, as well as the opportunity to develop their own unique courses tailored to their expertise and students’ interests. 

This is a contractor position with flexible scheduling and the chance to innovate in the growing online teaching market.

Teacher Responsibilities:

✨ Teach engaging, inclusive online classes via Zoom. Classroom and time management during class. Most classes run 25 or 50 minutes.

✨ Teach one class or 30 based on your schedule, interests and needs. Students live all over the world in varied time zones, so if teaching at 11pm or 4am or 7pm is your preference, we have students for you!

✨ Communicate regularly with families.

✨ Stay flexible and open to trying new ideas, approaches, days and times and course design within a fast-moving industry.

✨ Foster a friendly, supportive, and empowering learning environment that encourages creativity and skill development.

Required Qualifications:

💥 Professional artist and/or author with demonstrable expertise in your medium(s) and curriculum ideas.

💥 A portfolio showcasing your work.

💥 A CV or resume detailing your relevant experience.

💥 Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage students online while managing chatbox and live classroom.

💥 Ability to engage with young learners across diverse age groups, cultures and abilities.

💥 Comfort using or learning Zoom for virtual instruction, and other online tools.

Additional Qualifications:

💥 Prior teaching experience, excellent classroom management

💥 Experience designing curriculum or lessons for young learners.

YIS Support for Teachers:

💥 Optional trainings and resources for best practices, procedures and student engagement and retention will be available as this library of resources grows.

💥 Open office hours with Bear to drop in and say hi, ask questions, check in and get feedback.

Compensation: 

💥 YIS commits to fair compensation, transparency, and respect for all instructors.

💥 This is a contractor position with transparent pay based on tuition.

💥 40% of tuition payments go directly to the instructor.
